Hopper
While I was eager to dip my toes into the world of Alaskan Huskies, I still like the “security” of my working line Siberians. What better way to blend the two than with an Alaskan/Siberian mix? (Well, at this point, he’s just considered an Alaskan Husky.)
Hopper’s mother is a gorgeous, leggy Alaskan Husky and his father is Hubble’s brother! I definitely saw the difference while raising him alongside Sagan. He definitely has the aloof independence of a Siberian. He’s a very quiet, soft spoken dude, which is great because Sagan makes enough noise for the both of them.
Despite his non-clingy nature, Hopper has been a delightful dog to raise and has bonded very closely to me. He’s incredibly smart, too. He caught on to house-training almost instantly—a rarity for boy pups in this household. By the end of his first season, he was leading the team, which isn’t too surprising since his parents are both leaders. I can’t wait to see how he leads in races, which will be his next challenge!

Hopper was named after Grace Hopper, an American computer scientist. She was one of the first programmers of the Harvard Mark I computer and a pioneer of computer programming.
